1 The BTBA TPT British Masters 2017
At the conclusion of the season we will be running the first BTBA TPT British Masters as our end of Year event.
This will be a handicap event based on your Individual Average at the conclusion of the season. We will not be including TPT bonus points. Handicaps will be calculated at 75% of the difference between your average and the scratch score which will be set at the end of the TPT season to reflect the highest scratch average obtained.
Eligibility for the event will be the same as for all BTBA Tenpin Tour events but you must have participated in at least 3 events throughout the season to qualify.
We anticipate that there will be a separate Ladies section but this will depend on the number of entries that we receive. If there are less than 16 entrants we will hold just one mixed section and ladies will be given an 8 pin bonus per game. Then in addition to the normal prize payout we will provide a prize for the Top Female bowler and Runner up.
The event will run from Friday to Sunday. Each bowler will bowl two qualifying blocks of 5 games. One block must be played on Friday and the other block can be played on either Friday or Saturday. Re-entry will be available from Friday afternoon and throughout Saturday. You will be allowed to re-enter more than once, but you must keep one of your original qualifying blocks of 5 games. You will only be allowed to book one re-entry squad with your original entry form, all other re-entries will be on a first come first served basis and will depend on availability within the number of lanes that have been made available. Re-entry will be available up to 30 minutes prior to the start of that squad.
Qualification will also be possible by means of a High game (Turbo) or, if all else fails, in a Desperado game that will be held on Saturday afternoon after the last qualifying block has been bowled. Registering for Turbos must be completed before the start of practice for that squad. Entry into the desperado will close 5 minutes after the conclusion of the last qualification squad.
2 Entry Fees
. Pricing for the event is as follows:
· Initial entry £70 which includes £25 Prize Fee
· Re-entry will be £25
· Turbo will be £5 per block
· Desperado will be £8 (limited by availability of lanes)
3 The Format and Rules·
The tournament has been sanctioned by the BTBA and the event will be played in accordance with the BTBA's General Playing Rules and Tournament Rules, which can be found on the BTBA website www.btba.org.uk.
· Dress code will be fairly relaxed but we ask that, where possible, bowlers wear a shirt with their name on it. Shorts can be worn but they should be tailored and not swim shorts. There is no restriction on denim but jeans etc should be clean and tidy.
· All bowlers will play 2 qualification squads of 5 games. One of which must be played on Friday. You will be allowed to re-enter more than once, but you must keep at least one of your original qualifying blocks. Play will be at doubles pace and players will move 2 lanes right after each game.
· The cut for the Men's finals will be approx 50% of entries to include 2 Turbo's and one Desperado. A tie for places in the final will be decided by the highest last scratch game or previous games if required.
· The cut for the Ladies' finals will be approx 50% of entries to include 1 Turbo. A tie for places in the final will be decided by the highest last scratch game or previous games if required.
The Plate·
All bowlers that do not make the cut for the finals will be eligible to enter the Plate event on Sunday Morning. This will consist of 4 games with prizes being awarded based on finishing positions. Pinfall will not be carried forward from the qualifying rounds. The total prize fund will be split between the main event and the Plate on a ratio of approximately 75/25. If there are less than 8 ladies competing in the plate we will run a combined Plate tournament and Ladies will be given a bonus of 8 pins per game.
The Finals (assuming there is separate ladies division)
· Finals round 1; Bowlers qualifying for the finals will bowl a further 4 games. Scores from previous rounds will not be carried forward. The top 6 male and 5 female bowlers from Finals round 1 will then play in a seeded eliminator match. A tie for places into the next round will be decided by the highest last scratch game or previous games if required.
· Finals round 2; (Men only), positions 6, 5, 4 & 3 will play one game with the lowest scoring bowler being eliminated. The bowler eliminated will take 6th place.
· Finals round 3; (Men), three remaining from Finals round 2 are joined by the bowler qualifying in 2nd place. (Ladies) positions 5, 4, 3 & 2. Bowlers play one game with the lowest scoring bowler being eliminated. The bowler eliminated will take 5th place.
· Finals round 4; (Men & Ladies), three remaining from the last round are joined by the bowler qualifying in 1st place to play one game with the lowest 2 bowlers being eliminated. Those eliminated will take 3rd and 4th place based on their scores in this round.
· Grand final; (Men & Ladies), the two remaining bowlers will play one game to determine 1st and 2nd place.
· All ties in final rounds 2-4 will be settled by a one ball roll off.
4 The Schedule:
All these start times are approximate and we reserve the right to start each squad up to 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Therefore registration will close 30 minutes before the original scheduled start time. Anybody arriving after the start of play will be permitted to join the squad but will start play from the current frame, scoring zero for any previous frames.
Based upon availability lanes can be booked for practice on the Thursday before the event. Please call the bowling centre directly on 01453 762200 and mention the BTBA TPT Masters so they know which lanes to allocate to you and to ensure that you get the special practice rate of £2.50 per game. You will need to book lanes at least 2 weeks in advance and be prepared to accept the next available slot.
